With a new album in production, it’s curtains for the Closer To You concert tour!
The Closer To You tour took The Coronas all around Ireland, Scotland and England, and on a massive road trip of mainland Europe, before a final homecoming at the Festival Dome in Tralee.
The lads shared the bill with superstars Elton John, Justin Timberlake and Bon Jovi. Big venues, little venues. . . .Slane Castle, the Royal Albert Hall, The O2, The Coronas rocked them all.
A big thank you to the thousands of fans who supported the band on their successful tour. We hope you enjoyed it, and are looking forward to the next one!
Here are some of our best bits.

The Coronas are delighted to announce that they are playing a few songs at the Olympia on April 11th as part of the Barretstown Inspirations gig!
Check it out. It’s for a great cause.
The Coronas are playing the Royal Albert Hall’s Elgar room on the 16th of May. Tickets for this one off show are very limited so make sure you get them!!
It feels so good to be back on tour again. The summer was filled with cool festivals and short trips for gigs all over Europe but we haven’t done a full tour since our UK tour in May. We’re back to the way we started out in Ireland 5 years ago for this tour. Just the 7 of us in our van – the 4 band members, Jim (manager), Gav (our recently married sound engineer) and Johnny (keys and techie) and if the first gig is an indicator of how this tour is going to go, then it’s gonna be a good one!
Abart in Zurich on Tuesday was amazing. To fill out such an historic venue is means loads to us. We looked on the wall and some of the bands that have graced that stage included Muse, Supergrass, and Ash. Danny’s flight was delayed and he only just made the show. Thankfully it all worked out in the end and was a great night. Tonight we are in Bonn for Rockpalast which is an amazing and historic German TV show that has featured such amazing artists as Rory Gallagher, Van Morrison and Radiohead. Seems like we’re in good company on this tour!
The Coronas are delighted to announce that they will be playing Bestival festival in the UK this year!
Hopefully we’ll see you there http://www.bestival.net
Hey everyone, we’ve just arrived back in Ireland from what was a really successful first tour of Germany. The last gig was in crystal club in Berlin and was a fantastic night. It was so hot!! like playing in an actual oven! it’s good to be home to Ireland’s heat wave , i find it a little easier to handle! A great night tho and very memorable
thanks to everyone who came t see us over the last week. it was unforgettable in so many different ways. Whether it was knox and egan walking around cologne for 8 hours drunkenly lookin for the hotel, or watching 150 austrians singing all the words to someone elses hands, we wont forget this trip .
Spare a thought now for our long suffering manager Jim who is currently driving the van back to Dublin. I imagine he’s somewhere between hamburg and birmingham at the moment, or if he’s any sense still in hamburg soaking up the best of what the reeperbahn has to offer. God speed jim…
Love always and see u soon,
We are on our way to Berlin now for our last gig of our little European tour. So far we have been to Vienna, Cologne (where me and Egan had an absolute nightmare and got lost for 7 hours!!) and Hamburg with a lot of driving in-between!! To keep our selves entertained on the drives we have been getting into and finishing off a few series including Breaking Bad, Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones to name a few. All of them Unbelievable!!
Really looking forward to the gig tonight in The Crystal Club. Berlin is a really cool city and last year when we were here with The Script the crowd were amazing!!
In other news we have decided that Closer To You will be our next single in Ireland.
See yas soon!!
All going well in Europe so far. We are in Cologne for our gig in The Yard Club tonight. Everybody is a little hungover, as we had a couple of drinks for the Heineken cup final and the Champions league final last night. We may of had a couple too many as Knoxy and myself couldn’t find are way back to the hotel after! We finally found it at 8 in the morning. The less said about that the better I think!
But on a better note the gig in Vienna the night before went amazing. I Couldn’t believe we had such a good crowd for our first ever show in Austria. And the pre-sales for tonights gig are way more than we expected too which is making this hangover a little easier to handle. Right so I better get warmed up for tonight then. Wish us luck.
So our first proper UK tour is complete and its been an amazing couple of weeks. Last night in London’s Cargo venue was definitely a highlight. To have a sold out show in London is really something that we couldn’t even imagine a few months ago. But thanks to a lot of hard work from a lot of people (too many to mention, but ya’s know who ya’s are) it has happened and it’s a great starting point in our plans to take our music to as many people as possible.
Not all the gigs were packed of course (our smallest crowd was maybe around 70 people) but each show offered enough for us to continue to build on. A special mention has to go to Murray James and his band who supported us on tour, a great singer, songwriter and really cool guy. You will be hearing a lot more from him.
So that’s it, we’ve headlined a UK tour, Addicted to Progress is picking up some good reviews and some great regional airplay, and our album Closer to You is out on Monday, May 14th. Although we far from expect it to storm the charts (yet!), it’s a great feeling to get it out there in a new territory and see it grow. Bring on the European tour next Friday!
Just arrived in Cardiff for our gig in Clwb Ifor Bach (I can’t pronounce it either) its a really cool venue so looking forward to the gig tonight. Unfortunately the UK leg of our European Tour is coming to an end now, with only 2 gigs left. We have tonight in Cardiff and London on Thursday, which means we have a day off tomorrow, so a couple of drinks wouldn’t be a bad idea after tonights gig. The last 2 nights have seen us in Birmingham and Bristol, both great shows with great crowds. The Bristol show was at a venue called Thelka which is a big boat that is permanently docked in the city, so that was a pretty cool experience. Right so, I’m off to soundcheck some drums. Speak to you all soon!
